The world is turning. I hope it don’t turn on me.
There are really two parts to this post.
The first is easy. I just want to show you some of my experiments during April. I think that the best defense is a better offense. Since the left and center pictures took place in New Orleans, my former home is taking a beating. At least in my mind.
As a very quick aside, Substack’s software has been nothing but hell today. The best way to lose me is to make my work harder. I reckon that’s par for the course since this is a writer’s site and it was made pretty clear to me that this is a writer’s site. They prove that everyday with work that is so long that reading it is a snore. Short posts people, we live in the world of short.
Back to the wonderful world of AI.
The hype is finally dying down. Either people are using and learning it, or they just don’t care. Bigger companies are swallowing little companies who swallowed even littler companies. Microsoft and Meta are buying anything they can get their hands on.
In many cases some kind of AI has already been instituionalized. Most businesses are using it to do something.
Layoffs which were starting to build a few months ago, are rising as companies like Meta and anything Elon Musk owns are figuring out they don’t need humans to do certain jobs when machines will do just fine. Thank you very much.
Even Twitter, Musk’s overpriced purchase, while struggling because of his inabilty to actually manage, is cruising along like a car without steering even after he fired most of the staff.
Tesla is crashing, but that’s not AI driven. There are issues with the cars, which were amazing five years ago but haven’t really changed since then. Anybody who is making e-cars are making better cars costing less than the original base price of a Tesla.
Don’t get me started on that stupid truck. Everyone of them has been recalled because of breaking issues. Oh, and they rust. The solution is to never get them wet. Or, paint them matt black. Admittedly, painted black, it looks pretty bad ass.
The charging system is where they had everyone beat, but they’ve opened that up to other makes and models.
We went all in. We own two e-cars. Both Hyundais. We have a type 2 charging station at home that is solar powered (the house is solar powered with large storage capacity) which means home charges are essentionally no net cost.
And, we really haven’t found problems finding remote charging stations. So, for us, who needs a Tesla?
I kind of rambled here, but I’m pretty sure all of these things are interconnected. Most forms of digital technology find their way into each others venues.
